Executive MBAs go global

24.10.2010

The 25th October 2010 will see the release of the tenth Financial Times annual ranking of Executive MBA programmes . A comparison between the original top ten, released in October of 2001, with the 2009 edition highlights some significant changes in the landscape of the EMBA market over the proceeding nine year period.

Then...

The University of Pennsylvania: Wharton topped the table in 2001, one of six American based programmes listed in the top ten. With an average salary of a little under $204,000 (based on purchasing power parity equivalents) Wharton alumni were the highest earners that year. The remaining top ten was made up of programmes taught exclusively in Spain and the United Kingdom.

...and now

By the 2009 classification the joint programme offered by Kellogg and Hong Kong University of science and technology was ranked number one. Taught mainly in China, alumni of the programme reported an average salary of $345,000. Four of the remaining programmes in the top ten were taught in more than one country, including two other business school collaborations. The US remained the dominant location for top EMBA programmes though, with six of the programmes listed taught there, either exclusively or as part of a multi-location offering.
