In this article, for the first time the author describes psychological and acmeological indicators of professional elitism in the sphere of technique and technology. Basing on the system analysis of the phenomenon of professional elitism, which included a theoretical-methodological analysis, empirical studies on the basis of structural and functional and competence-based approach, the author identified three integrated indicators reflecting the main essence of this phenomenon, such as: creativity, leadership and innovation. The emphasized psychological indicators of professional elitism permeate all major components of the psychological structure of activity and personality of an elite specialist and reflect basic requirements to an elite specialist as a subject of activity and professional communication. Creativity, leadership and innovation define meaningful characteristics of a systemic phenomenon of professional elitism on sociological, socio-psychological and psychological levels of representation; they reflect quality standards and expectations of the society in relation to extra-class professionals, social and group features of the professional community and personal activity characteristics of elite specialists in the sphere of technique and technology.

The article presents criteria of professional elitism in the field of technology, developed in accordance with the author's concept. The aim of the research was to identify practical and personal features of professional elitism, reflecting the main functional-and-role-based content of professional activity of elite specialists in the sphere of technology, as well as professionally important personal qualities of an elite specialist that are manifested in the process of professional activity and communication in social and professional environment. On the basis of a theoretical analysis major activity and personal criteria of professional elitism, characterizing motivational and operational readiness of a specialist for professional fulfillment in the role of an elite professional of a technical activity profile were identified.

The author presents results of an empirical study aimed at implementation of a competence-based analysis of professional elitism in the sphere of technology. A competence model developed in accordance with the author's concept of professional elitism in the sphere of technology was proposed for the first time in this work. On the basis of the conducted competence-based analysis the main requirements to the level and quality of professional activities of elite specialists in the sphere of technology were revealed; these characteristics describe the focus and ability of elite experts of a technical activity profile holistically. The most important result of this work was creation of three basic clusters of competencies that reflect specifics of vocational elitism in the sphere of technology, including psychological peculiarities of the subject of work, socio-organizational interaction and interpersonal communication.

This article presents results of a structural-functional analysis of professional activity of elite specialists in the sphere of engineering and technology. The purpose of the empirical research was to study the system of professional activity of elite specialists in the sphere of engineering and technology: motivations, objectives, conceptual models of activity, programs of professional activity, nature of decision-making and personal behavioral qualities. The object of research was professional activity of elite specialists in the sphere of engineering and technology. The subject of the research was structural-functional characteristics of the system of professional activity of elite specialists in the field of engineering and technology. The main research method was an expert survey. The respondents who took part in the survey were elite specialists of a technical activity profile.
